Salma Akter Mone’s remarkable journey of accomplishments cannot be disputed. Not only is she the first female referee from Bangladesh to oversee international matches beyond Asia, but she has also earned the prestigious AFC Elite Assistant Referee badge, another first for a Bangladeshi female referee. In 2021, she added the FIFA assistant referee badge to her list of achievements, subsequently making history as the first woman to officiate a men’s top-tier football match in the Bangladesh Premier League. Recently, she officiated the 32nd SEA Games in May 2023, which featured teams from Vietnam, Philippines, Myanmar, Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand, Singapore, and Laos. This momentous occasion marked her as the first Bangladeshi female referee to officiate an international match outside of South Asia. Currently, she serves as a physical education teacher at a private English medium school.
