While Mabia might not have had her heart set on becoming a sportswoman, life certainly had different plans for her. After facing numerous challenges growing up in a working class family in a patriarchal society, it was Mabia’s maternal uncle who introduced her to the world of weightlifting. Aside from being an international weightlifter herself, she now also mentors other young women who want to enter this field.
